We’re Nat and Lily. We started LowTox Living to make it easier to figure out which everyday exposures are actually worth paying attention to—and which swaps are genuinely worth making.
We’re not interested in fear, perfection, or replacing everything in the house at once. We’re interested in figuring out what matters, what doesn’t, and which changes make sense in real life.
How we work
We look at the evidence, how often people are exposed, how exposure happens, and whether there’s a practical alternative.
We test the products we recommend ourselves so we can understand how they perform in real life, not just how they look on paper. And when there are trade-offs, we’ll tell you about those too.
The goal is simple: focus on the changes that seem most meaningful, rather than treating every ingredient, material, or product as equally concerning.
What you’ll find here
Practical product swaps, deeper dives into materials and ingredients, and straightforward recommendations for everyday life.
We’ll look at the products we use in our homes, kitchens, bathrooms, with our families, and elsewhere in daily life, then try to answer a few basic questions:
Is there a real reason to be concerned?
Is there a better option?
And is the swap actually worth making?
Sometimes the answer will be yes. Sometimes it won’t. Our aim is to make lower-tox living feel more practical, not more complicated.
Frequently asked questions
What does “low-tox” mean?
For us, it means reducing unnecessary exposure to substances we’d rather avoid, particularly in products we use frequently. It doesn’t mean trying to live in a perfectly toxin-free world.
Do you test everything you recommend?
Yes. We use and test the products we recommend ourselves so we can understand how they perform in real life—not just how they look on paper.
How do you decide what’s worth worrying about?
We look at the quality of the evidence, how often people are exposed, how exposure happens, and whether there’s a practical alternative. Our goal is to focus on the changes that seem most meaningful rather than treating every ingredient or material as equally concerning.
If that sounds useful, subscribe and follow along. We’ll share what we’re learning, what we’re testing, and the swaps we think are actually worth making.
